I've been struggling with this now for a few hours.
Would appreciate another set of eyes please to see if I've missed anything.
Here's what I have:
- 8310 with Blackberry 4.2 core apps and system software. The rest are 4.2.2.
- Windows XP operating system
- Blackberry Desktop Mgr 4.2.2.14
- Wireless provider is AT&T with Blackberry Unlimited Data Plan
STANDARD MODEM:
I've modified the Standard Modem per the instructions and entered below in the Advanced tab:
+cgdcont=1,"IP","proxy"
DIAL-UP NETWORKING:
I've created a Dial Up Networking profile where username and password as blank.
>> I've disabled "Use IP header compression" under TCP/IP.
>> I've also disabled "Enable Hardware Flow Control".
MODEM CHECK:
I've checked the blackberry modem and verified that it is working. Below is what I get when I do a modem query:
ATQ0V1E0 - Success
AT+GMM - BlackBerry IPmodem
AT+FCLASS=? COMMAND NOT SUPPORTED
AT#CLS=? COMMAND NOT SUPPORTED
AT+GCI? COMMAND NOT SUPPORTED
AT+GCI=? COMMAND NOT SUPPORTED
ATI1 - Research In Motion / BlackBerry IPmodem
ATI2 - Research In Motion / BlackBerry IPmodem

ATI5 - Research In Motion / BlackBerry IPmodem
ATI6 - Research In Motion / BlackBerry IPmodem

DESKTOP MANAGER:
Connected to laptop via USB cable.
DIAL UP PROBLEM:
- Can't connect.
- Error 718 with blank username & password.
Tried the following:
Changed the Modem APN to wap.cingular and dial up acct to Username:
and Password: CINGULAR1.
- No go. Error 734
Changed the APN to isp.cingular and dial up acct to Username:
and Password: CINGULAR1.
- Same result. No go. Error 734
By the way, Desktop Manager connection didn't seem to matter. Connected via USB or USB-Serial didn't matter. (Task 4 of
BlackBerry Search Results says use the USB-Serial)
I've rebooted both the laptop and the 8310. Still no go.
Quite frustrating.
I would appreciate your help with suggestions please.
Thanks,
eagle
