Default OS: 8310 4.5.0.306/4.5.0.182 (Multilanguage)

Please Login to Remove!

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.5.0.306 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 4.5.0.306
Consisting of:

* Applications: 4.5.0.182
* Software Platform: 2.7.0.106
* File name: 8310M_PBr4.5.0_rel306_PL2.7.0.106_A4.5.0.182_AT_am p_T.exe
* File size: 90.76MB

Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

* Download Software: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...E4F82F9F00E7D4

Instructions for installing on ANY carrier's 8310:

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

For the previous OS, see this link: http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...ilanguage.html

Default Is this really newer?

Isn't this an older "newest version" than was previously posted? I tried to install this one, and was told by the Desktop Manager that my 8310 already had a newer version installed.

The platform version for this package is slightly older than the platform version of the previous package.

Default Os 5.0?

I know that the question? Will we be getting 5.0 OS,has been asked on other OS updates and i understood the answer, "not enough memory". So what I'm asking is, how come the 8330 devices are getting the 5.0 OS? Are they that much different then the 8310?

The 8310 has 64mb
The 8330 has 96mb

So, 50% more memory is that much of a difference, apparently.

This information came from the BlackBerry.com device comparison site - BlackBerry - BlackBerry | Wireless Handheld Devices, Software & Services from Research In Motion (RIM)
