Angry Signal Quality

Please Login to Remove!

Got a 9630 and my wife has a Pre, her signal is consistantly 1-2 bars better than mine in the same places we travel. I just did an advanced exchange thinking it was an internal antenna issue but still having same problem. Anyone have any suggestions? I also am running 5.0.0.624 software.

In that case its probably the OS. As far as my personal experiments go .419 has the best signal strength. It'll be refered to as "radio".

Thanks for your input, anyone else think the same? I tried .419 before but didn't notice any signal difference.

Signal bars are relative - especially between two different handdsets.

If your phone is working right and you are making and receiving calls why bother whether they are the same or not.

I have a friend who has a 9630 on VZW. She was getting less signal than I was getting on my 9630 on Sprint. We updated her PRL and it helped. You may want to do that. I'm not sure if it was a coincidence or not, but it worked on hers.

Thanks I will try that, did you also switch the network options to home only versus automatic?

My new Tour has dropped 3 calls since I got it about a month ago. My old Curve 8330 never did this. Now you say something about updating the PRL... what is that? It's not something that really bothers me, I would just like to check up on everything. Thanks!

To update the PRL got to manage connections, mobile network options, then press your BB menu key and you will see the option.

I must be missing something because when I try and do this nothing shows up on the menu. I'm probably overlooking something but right now I don't see anything regarding PRL.

on Verizon dial *228 and use option 2. It will update your PRL I believe.

"go to manage connections" - this is incorrect

go to Options, then Mobile Network, and the rest of the instructions will work just fine.

Options -> Mobile Network -> Menu button -> Update Preferred List will update your PRL.
