Default App to turn on GPS

Is there an app out there to turn on and off the GPS without having to navigate through multiple menus? This would be great for those of us that want to use the GPS periodically but want to turn it off to save the battery when not using it.

What's the purpose in turning it off?

It doesn't eat battery (at least it is minuscule).

Not off per se, just set it back to E911 instead of location on. I assumed having the location on set to enabled all day would drain the battery much faster than having it set to E911. Is this not the case? My assumption was that a device in a building would continuously search for a Sat signal and never find out because of the building's interference and would cause a greater strain on the battery.

no, it doesnt search for satellites unless you a) menu - refresh on the GPS page or b) use maps.

Hmmm, cool. Didn't know that. I just assumed, incorrectly, that it stayed locked onto the satellites all day long regardless of the applications running.

no. The simple GPS does not use data.

A mapping application running on your device does use data, that is different.
