Default Firefox going mobile

Firefox has dedicated themselves to getting into the mobile game. Will they make as much of an impact on the BlackBerry as they have on the desktop?

Is this news - I reported this on my site back in May when Mozilla Corporation's President, Mitchell Baker mentioned it in an interview!

Globally Firefox accounts for around 15% of all web traffic so it's hardly surprising. Also, now that Google are building a mobile OS and their own web browser for it, now is the time for Mozilla to get a head start.

I wonder if Mozilla will make an option where you can have the browser as the "default browser". Can't seem to make it for Opera.

Actually, the most gutting thing about Opera is you can't set the browser to use the MDS if your BlackBerry is on a BES server!! That really p****d me off as I quite liked it, but not enough to actually pay for my internet calls!!!

...something tells me that the BlackBerry will be one of the last platforms to receive this treatment. The Openwave hire gives them instant access to companies like Motorola and Samsung and Nokia. Expect this first on Windows Mobile devices, then Nokia devices, then Samsung devices, then the iPhone, then BlackBerry.

...just a guess, of course. Glad to see the Minimo project die, finally (only b/c it had so much promise and no progress or results to show).

If anything, this news will allow for more competition. It will cause the others to step up their performance.
