Thinking about installing FireFox Browser ?
Please Login to Remove!
Just upgraded my phone from a 8700c ( crashed on me) to a 8310. Have had it for only a few days.
I would like to download FireFox as my browser.
I don't know how to do this. Do I just download regular FireFox or MiniMo ?
Do I download it through my phone ?

Firefox is NOT available on the BlackBerry at the moment. A mobile version is in development but there is no public beta or alpha at the moment.
Try Opera Mini instead.

Guess I'll wait for FireFox to come out with theirs.
Have heard many mixed reviews about Opera ?

Its kinda hard to say, opera mini is a great browser, I used it all the time on my old nokia phone. (used opera mini 3, didn't like ver 4)
But with the BB, browser is simply just faster and better
But thats my opinion.. others will have a totaly different point of view..

Try this way. Use the generic version instead of trying to get the one for your phone:
http://www.operamini.com/download/pc...vanced_midp_2/
This is the PC download version. Just download and copy the files to your phone. On the BB, go to media, hit the menu, select explore and run the files. One of them will full install. The other doesn't do anything, but not sure which one is which.

Is there any type of formatting software that will make it more readable.
I find surfing the net on my Curve sucks. lol
I have used my friends iphone to check websites before and it is much better.
:(
Which sucks because I love my BB much more than te iphone.

You'll never get it to be like the iphone, but you can change the option settings in the BB browser. On Emulation mode, there are several options which will load websites slightly different ways.
Also, Opera Mini v. 4 looks pretty good. Set the text size to small and it gives a better overview of webpages than the default setting. Then use the S, E, F, and X keys to rapidly scroll around the screen or the trackball for slower movement. Trackball press zooms in.

Opera Mini
So, Is the Opera browser better than what comes standard on the 8130 from Verizon?
I read some reviews that recommended it but I'm not looking for a major jobs program... I just got this "Pearl" Saturday... It's my first BB, came from a Palm Treo 650P.
Anybody using a good IM client? I use to use Mundu on my Treo, anything similar available for the BB system?
Thanks,
Germannator

Jivetalk has been highly recommended by many. It is not free, but the reviews for it are amazing.

Operamini and Googlemaps. The two best FREE apps, IMO.
As far as chat clients go....I found this post by Mark Rejhon:
What Instant Messaging Software Is Available For BlackBerry?
BeeJive's JiveTalk (Multi Network) (One-Time Fee) (see review)
IM+ (Multi Network) (One-Time Fee)
RIM's Google Talk (Google Talk) (Free)
RIM's Yahoo Messenger (Yahoo) (Free)
RIM's Windows Messenger (MSN) (Free, only on some carriers)
RIM's AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) (Free, only on some carriers)
RIM's BlackBerry Messenger (PIN) (Free)
Yak-On (Multi Network) (One-Time Fee)
WebMessenger (Multi Network) (Annual Subscription)
Causerie Messenger (Multi Network) (Annual Subscription)
BerryVine Messenger (MSN Direct Connect) (One-Time Fee)
QuickIM Messenger (MSN Direct Connect) (One-Time Fee)
Ramble (AIM Direct Connect) (Freeware)
BlackChat ICQ (ICQ Direct Connect) (Free Open Source)
(Updated List: Click Here.)

Well I actually downloaded Operamini.
Really like it so far.
The only thing is that it will ONLY let me download version 3.1.
When I tried downloading ver. 3.12 or 4 it says that it doesn't recognize my phone ? What's w/ that ?
Is it because I don't have any external memory added on to my phone ?
I'm only using the internal memory it came with.
Can anyone help ? Would like to see how much better 3.12 or 4 are than 3.1.
Also which is the best way to download it ? Through the phone on OperaMini website,on Desktop, or Text message it to device ?

How were you downloading it when you got the error?
Try the generic advanced version:
http://www.operamini.com/download/pc...vanced_midp_2/
This is the PC download version. Select the language in the pulldown, download to your PC and copy the files to your phone. On the BB, go to media, hit the menu, select explore and run the files. One of them will full install. The other doesn't do anything, but not sure which one is which.

I was having problems with it too. But on the opera site they say to go to options - advanced options - TCP then where it says APN type in wap.voicestream.com user name and password leave those BLANK!!!
After I did that it worked fine. Uninstalled it not long after though. I liked it but something about it just kept me from keeping on using it. I might try it again but not sure right now.
Oh and I installed opera mini OTA
