My new voicemail indicator won't go away even though I don't have one - and yes, I've removed the battery and that didn't work

Have you switched VM providers recently? You may have a VM left in one of the services that is sending the MWI (Message Waiting Indicator) to your device.

Also, I would suggest you do a search of the forums to see what you come up with, there are several recent threads that deal with this exact issue.

I had this happen when I went from the AT&T VM, to YouMail and back. Battery pulls did nothing and calling either VM account yielded nothing. As a last resort, I called AT&T CS (was escalated) and they were able to help me clear the issue.

i had this happen also several times, my solution was to leave a VM on my account, then call back to check it, when you hit the delete for the VM, do not hang up until the icon disappears. Or it will be frozen on your phone till you either get another VM and delete it. Or do the above procedure.

hope this helps.
