Seeing that I probably can't keep my international phone number, I am wondering what service provider seems to offer the most comprehensive and most cost effective service for a GSM Blackberry. I travel a lot through Canada, Western Europe and the Caribbean. I will be doing most email and IM stuff.

Not sure where your home base is? If your stationed in Canada the only GSM/GPRS carrier is Rogers Wireless. If you looking at US carrier ATT and TMo offer North American and Int'l coverage but TMo really shines on an Int'l level. Europe I can only go on what I've heard and a couple of my clients swear by Vodafone don't hold me to it...
