Default GPRS vs GSM

Please Login to Remove!

Is there a way to switch off GPRS onto the GSM network here in DC?
Are they the same thing?
My v600 phone can pick up signal all over the place in and around DC on gsm, but, the BB can't.
What do I need to use GPRS for anyways.

thanks for your patience with newbie questions,
Bobby

GPRS is the data part of GSM.

Without GPRS.. you have no email.. etc.

Only phone usage.

Is it better to have SMS on GSM or GPRS?

Doesn't matter, it'll use whatever mode is available

But is one better than another? I noticed in the options that I can force it to use one as opposed to another. Will I not be charged for SMS usage if I used the GPRS method?

Nah, I don't think so, unless you don't have an unlimited SMS plan. I seem to remember this being discussed before though. But no, it will send regardless of GSM/GPRS
