Default Auto switching from WIFI to GPRS?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi, I've tried to search the forum but to no avail.
My question is, when I am within range of my network at work or home, the Browser app uses wifi, but for some reason when I am out of wifi area and run MediaNet browser, it still looks for wifi when trying to access simple pages like mobile google or mobile blackberry pages. The error message I get is, that this requires Wifi. I even went as far as into the options-->advance-->browser and set the default browser to MediaNet.
My question is, the Bold is a massively smart phone, but is there a way, or an APP that will allow it to be "smarter" and to autodetect what connection it currently has and uses it to access the internet? I don't want to believe that the people of RIM created such a beautiful phone and powerful power, but failed to apply the fundamentals of basic auto-switching of wifi/gprs/3g/edge etc..

Any help is much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

my bold users 3 browsers, Orange World (network wap browser) internet browser and hotspot browser.

the Orange World browser, works only on 3G/GPRS - the internet browser is flakey, and sometimes uses 3G or Wifi depending.

what I tend to do, is simply switch browsers, so if im on Wifi - use the hotspot browser.

i set all my bookmarks and the default to "internet browser"

it will pull wifi if you are connected to it. otherwise it will automatically drop to EDGE or GPRS

you need to start a new session for it to work tho (for example, if youare out and browsing on GPRS, you go home, it wont connect to Wifi until you close the broswer and re-open it again)

interesting that you said that, I turned off data and left my wifi on. The browser connects fine, Facebook gives me an error, this app requires an active data plan... Oh it's not a big deal, I can always connect to facebook via the Browser. To bellyache a little bit, the facebook app for blackberry is asinine compared to other OS' facebook apps i.e. iPhone.... but overall, the transition between iPhone to the BOLD was a decision that I'm glad I've made.
