I was advised by AT&T the 8800 is going away. Anybody else heard this or is it Old news? I saw the new WiFi coming out in August. Also I have a 8830 Sprint World edition coming in the mail. Any experience with this one?

I've read rumors and other blogs stating the entry of 8820 (basically the 8800 with WiFi) coming to AT&T soon. So it would make sense for them to phase it out quickly. Hopefully, the 8820 hits stores early August!

I have the Verizon 8830, and it is just like the 8800, but Verizon has crippled it. But I do have the latest Sprint OS, and it is a great BB. I'm not sure how Sprint's service is on the BB, but I've had lots of people complain about their reception and customer service in my area (Mid-Atlantic Area). The 8830 so far hasn't given me any problems, and the phone is built like a rock.

I dont think you understand the model numbering, there is no 8800 with wifi, its 8820 and that goes for all the numbering for the models.

And RIM knows what they are releasing and when they are releasing them.

As for the others do you have any sources for these?

Gold? boy i hope not that sounds hideous.

My wife works for T-mo and told me today that they just discontinued the 8800 from the upgrade path. Said she isnt sure what's replacing it just yet.

I did. Told her I saw it mentioned on here (been lurking around for a few months)...and told her that it must be true because Blackberry users never lie.

yeah the gold curve, if we see that I want to see anyone argue that RIM is still only mainly for Corp. buyers.

and wouldnt the external SD slot be a major redesign for the device? I'm for it but it seems it would require alot.

lol, SoUnCool... I am not doubting you, no one on here said that they felt you were not being truthful. Please don't take personal offense.

It is all rumor until RIM announces it, or until it hits the street.

i asked them same thing, they said its not a big thing for them, in Waterloo they have proto type assembly line and its all ready and tested to go out

as per RIM

Pearl < consumer market but Pearl took over 35% of corporate market

8800 , and all 88xx series models > corporate, GOLD because marketing said so after getting feed back on silver curve
