Default Argh, new 9650 email setup killing me!

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

Brand new BB user here and for the life of me I'm stumped. I'm trying to add a POP3 email address (on the phone) and I'm hung up on "user name". My account requires a form like [email address] but the user name field is automatically filled in for me on the phone as only myaccountname. This will not work and all the Googling has not helped me find a solution that will work. How do I edit this?? Help!

No, it's @jps.net which was bought out by Earthlink years ago.

Have you tried just using the BIS page from a computer?

Well, that message means that you need to set up an account via the device Email Settings first.

Try setting up a GMail email address on the device Email Settings.

Then try the other account.

Im a new BB user and just want to set up with my own email. It will allow me to set up a work email account but thats not an option. Every info page tells me I should have the option of a personal email account or a work email account setup, but I dont.
Ive been to the address above and it tells me to go to the Host routing table which Ive done and registered and it tells me registration message sent. I go back to the link above and I get the same message.
Ive been back to the Telstra store, but their answer is 'just keep playing with it' and 'why did you buy it in the first place then'. That left me speechless.

Sounds like you don't have a BLACKBERRY Data Plan properly set up on your account.

Call the Customer Service number for your phone service carrier. Don't to the store. Tell them that you need the BlackBerry Internet Service data plan set upon on your account.

If you do have the proper data plan, then I suspect the problem is that your carrier doesn't sell that device and thus you do not have the proper service books. If that's the case, then you will need to find the generic service books and load them manually. Not sure if they are available for your carrier, however,

Is the BB used, and might it have been on a corporate account in the past?
