Default BlackBerry Desktop Software and BB Phone Autocomplete

Please Login to Remove!

I talked to BB and was told my Microsoft Outlook 2000 is not compatible with my BB Tour to use BlackBerry Desktop Software and BB Phone Autocomplete. They were goung to tell me how to upgrade from Microsoft Outlook 2000 to Microsoft Outlook 2007 but we lost communication. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I'd go about upgrading to Microsoft Outlook 2007? I looked on Microsoft's website but didn't see upgrade from 2000 to 2007. Thanks!

You would need to purchase it.

Motorcycle Mama or others, does AutoComplete work on your BB Tour 9630?

AutoComplete doesn't have anything to do with Microsoft Outlook so I am not 100% sure to what you are referring. I have never heard of "BB Phone Autocomplete".

AutoComplete typically refers to two different things on a BlackBerry (again neither of which has anything to do with Outlook).

One, it can refer to "Predictive Text" which is the ability of the device to suggest words based upon the letters that you have typed. The Tour 9630 does have this feature.

Two, it can refer to the ability of the Messaging Application to show Recent Contacts (that you have used) when composing email. The Tour 9630 also has this feature.

Just to be clear, it isn't an incompatiblility with the Tour model that you have; it is Desktop Manager, which has not supported Outlook 2000 and earlier since version 4.2 SP 2 or SP3. (I think I read 4.2 SP2 is not on blackberry.com anymore, but I didn't confirm myself.)

My BB Tour (OS 5.0.0.624) is compatible with both Outlook 2010 and Desk Top Manager Version 6. I just have one BB email in my BB, but both BB Contacts and Calendar are compatible with Outlook Address Book and Calendar. In fact, no problems in sync from BB to Outlook (I use one way sync from BB to Outlook because I do all my editing on my BB.

When I said before that BB and Outlook were not compatible, I mislead you. What I mean is that they are not 100 percent compatible. For example, BB User Notes 1 to 4 do not show up in Outlook Address. Sorry for the confusion.

I had problems with Outlook 2010 Beta, but after I bought Outlook 2010, it works great with BB. Again, I don't want to get you all ruffled up, but be careful if you do use Gmail Plug-IN because I had too many problems such as losing my BB contacts and Comcast emails. It could be because I messed around too much trying different email addresses combinations on both BB and PC. I just want to caution you.
