I'm suddenly stuck in a place that doesn't get internet access.

I need to get a new data line of service and don't know whether to go with Verizon or AT&T.

Ill be ising this on a laptop so I prefer to use my PCMCIA slot.

Any suggestions or recommendations? Which carrier had the faster days access (assuming all things equal)?

Whatever provider you choose I recommend a USB modem. Most of the new USB modems come with memory card slots to make them into a flash drive essentially. What I did was save the VZ Access Manager software to the memory card. This way I can plug it into any computer, load the software and use the modem, instead of needing a software disc. It has proven quite convenient a couple times.

Good advice. I have a laptop with only one USB port, that I use with my printer so I figured it would behoove me to get an air card since I am not using my PCMCIA slot for anything.

Are you happy with the DL speeds off VZW?

Verizon or Sprint is your best choice for data speeds. AT&T is not quite there yet.
