Please Login to Remove!

Is it this month that RIM is supposed to launch their own version of the iphone app store?

Weird, do you mean Blackberry AppWorld? because I just woke up to find that email in my inbox. Anyone want to know more? It's linked to a PayPal account from what I can tell. I'll cheggit out more and let you know.

It's up and running now, and pretty cool! Free apps don't require PayPal but the paid ones do (obvious). I definitely like the speed of the app and the downloads. Focus doesn't seem to be on selling you apps but rather extending functionality of your BB. A definite improvement over what Handango tries to install every time I go to their site using my BB browser. If you signed up to get more info earlier you should have an email in your inbox. If not, check this page out: http://www.blackberry.com/appworld/download on either browser. You'll have to submit your email for them to send you a d.l. link, but I think it's worth it.
BTW, this is NOT an April Fool's joke.

No it's not an April Fools' Joke. It's actually pretty slick and easy to use . I will compare it to Walmart , in that you go in there for one thing and end spending money on everything you see.

I got the e-mail , downloaded it and clicked on the long waited app store.....
But low and behold a message appeared "Upgrade your serive to a plan that includes browsing and discover a world of possibilities at Blackberry App World. Contact your service provider " I have a browsing plan........
Typical....... So contacted Vodafone ....... and it turns out that The App store doesnt work on Storms in the UK!!!!!!!!
Why not Rim??????

Is this issue going to be fixed?

From The BB site before you download it: "BlackBerry App World is only available to customers in US, Canada and UK and may not be available on all networks"

This looks pretty slick so far.

When I tried to download the software, it says to me that "your device is not supported". Isn't it strange? I can not even install it.

Why they don't sell in other countries?

I downloaded Shazam, IHeart, and Pandora. IHeart was fine. When I open Shazam it says I need to set my BB to allow Shazam to record (how do I do that?), and when I open Pandora up it gives me several options but none to open it up on my BB (review, recommend, etc), any suggestions on what is wrong?

i wish the app had a way to favorite apps and save them for the future because i'm out of application room on my storm

also, does anybody know if this app store works for any other model of blackberry other than the storm? the reason i ask this is because i bought an app that was not made for the storm...i'm upset because i assumed that all the apps were made for the storm or that the program and app store would be smart enough to know my phone model and not show apps that i cannot download...

the funny thing too is the app i bought is a function that is already built into the phone's OS...why did i buy it? well, because i was sold on the fact that it could do more advanced features that it cannot...lame stuff...anyway, i'm calling them up today

I am starting to get frustrated with the lack of love storm users are getting due to the amount of applications that won't work (i.e. shazam, bloomberg). I downloaded istockmanager just to get the quotes and it wouldn't even load the quote. It is stuck loading the data.

Same here. I can't get Bloomberg to install and all I get is a messge saying "an error occured during installation" which I also experienced with Level before. This is very frustrating and not the right way for RIM to kick things off if they have any hope of competing in the app space.

how much application memory do you have left?

this is apparently a huge problem:

128 MB storage limitation:

Default APP World & T-mobile

Has anyone experienced any problems with App World on T-mobile? Everytime I try it with a paid app is states that there is a unsuccesssful connection to the BB Netwwork..... Is there something I am doing wrong?

My gripe with BAW right now is that when you try to read user Reviews of the apps, and there are multiple pages, no matter how many times you click next page, you start to see the same reviews over and over again. It seems to be a simple paging problem, but my goodness, how embarrassing that they can't get that right.

it'd be cool to see them allow an "add this app to your cart" feature so i could tag all the apps that i want to check out or try before actually going through the download procedures....

first of all, the storm can only hold so many apps....and secondly, it distracts me from getting more apps, which i would think would be something that they would be trying to promote as that would make them more money both the developers and RIM

It would also be nice if the had a section for "recently added" apps. I see the total number go up in a given category but there's no way to sort them by the date they were added

Should this thread be merged with the sticky thread?
