this is something that im sure is very basic, and I'm sorry for posting this thread...I promise I looked through out all the forums and searched...however I might be searching for the wrong thing.

When I get an email with an attached file. I see [1 Attachment]

but I don't know for the life of me how to open that attachment..or even see the file name from the phone. Any help would be appreciated.

Press the menu button, and click "open attachment"

I don't see that option, nor clicking through trackball and full menu or clicking menu option...could it be because it is being redirected using desktop redirector? I hope not.

make sure your attachment service was installed. You can check it out in your desktop manager.

sorry...opened up desktop manager and searched for that as well to no avail...could it be different on the sprint network?

Odd, I am able to open up my attachment on my aol (bis) account..but not the ones coming from the mail redirector...is it supposed to be this way?

i dont use a mail redirector, but its a good question if the redirector 'redirects' the attachments as well. Also, how big are these attachments?

I did a search and its very hazy...some people say they do get redirected attachments and some don't. for the most part the attachments are small..redirector only knows that the attachments are there..and how many...but not file names or acces to open it.

They are correct, I have the same issue at my work. The redirector only shows us they are there, but we cannot open them. If you need to open them, you can forward them from your Blackberry to your AOL account and you will be able to view them. Get your employer to spend the money on the BES and you'll be good, or you can go to:

and pay $24.95 a month and you can use their BES with your work exchange server to fix the problem that way.
