What model of the 8500 series?

The 8520 does not have GPS.
The 8530 does have GPS.

Check the sticky at the top of the GPS and Maps Section for reviews of many of the GPS/Map apps.

Offhand, I do not know of a free one with voice directions. There was one at one time, but I don't think it is now available. Don't recall the name.
