Default Unable to Update to 5.0 OS

Please Login to Remove!

Hi, im new to pretty much every thing blackberry, ive just installed desktop manager to sort out my apps, music and pictures and what not and as soon as i pluged my phone in it said there was an update, ive read through other threads on here and from what i can see theres non with the same error as mine, most seem to be having a problem of not being able to find the update where as mine finds it then gives me an error after downloading the modules it needs : /

as soon as its downloaded the modules it comes up with this error ( image - http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/2884/bdmerror.jpg )

If it helps ive got an 8520 on Orange In the UK and yes i have a data plan and ifim right the version is v4.6.1.314 (platform4.2.0.135) i found this in the about part in the settings, as i said im new to all things blackberry and i could be wrong =] lol

ive now been trying for hours, i even waited a hour and half the first time for it to downloadthe modules due to my internet being a little bit slow, ive uninstalled BDM and reinstalled it twice now, restarted my laptop several times and tried puling the battery out and putting itback in the phone to see if that would help, nothing ive done has helped me at all so now im sat here crying for help from any one that can offer it

Thanks for any help in advance
Liam

Liiam, do you think I would purposefully send you off to some beta OS without saying so, and even so, can you read the TITLE of the thread I directed you to look at?

Yea, good luck, do it your way. I've don't have that much experience with these BlackBerry thingamajigs...

Seven years under my belt, 40,000 posts here and you just do it your way.

Reboot your PC and see if that helps.

Here's some assistance. Don't bite the hand that feeds you.

Only newcomers that argue and insult get this treatment. You might consider a different approach.

LiiamUK, desktop manager downloading the modules is slow and annoying.
The thread JSanders posted basically has the link to download the OS first.
Its less likely to replicate the error you are currently getting, and is no different in terms of the way you upgrade except that its all local on your PC, and doesn't have to go down the internet to retrieve what you've just downloaded.

I tried my best Liiam. You were offered good advice, and you obviously haven't matured enough yet to learn to receive advice.

You're being given a vacation for your grade school language. When and if you choose to return, play by the rules, or don't come back.

I have a 8520 and I downloaded the 5.0.0.822 OS and had no problem with it whatsoever. It's easier to just download the OS onto your computer like midnight suggested and then do it through Desktop manager it should auto find the update and you should have no problems.
