A user had turned off his handheld for 7 days. After his handheld is turned on, he can only get the messages this day. The old messages received before this day can not be downloaded in his handheld.

Sounds like his messages expired. Check your BES settings to see how long / how many messages your BES DB will store before it expires them.

And recommend your user keep his blackberry fully charged with the antenna on at all times. Even when he sleeps. And buy him a waterproof case for the shower too. Always on. Always connected. We are borg.

messages dont get stored in the DB, and there is no setting on BES for email expiration, if the BB i sou tof coverage for 7 days messages expire, cant change that

I belive pending messages (at least the headers) ARE stored in the DB, which is why if your pending count gets high the DB bloats.
I swear there is a spot for message expiration, but i could be wrong. i'll doublecheck tomorrow.

Someone told me that if the handheld has not connected with BES for 3 days, the BES will stop to send the new messages to the handheld until it resume the connection. And after that the handheld can only get current message. Is it right?

Hmmmm. I've never heard of that before. If it only send the current days messages, what happens to all the emails that are Pending? Does this get set back to zero when the connection is restored and the emails are just not delivered to handset?

Bah you are right, the message expiration is the push message expiration. Your right, my bad.

As for the last 2 comments... thats wrong. The BES should just keep collecting pending messages forever. If the message is over 7 days it will expire on the network but the pending count will keep counting, and when you reconnect, they will come allll back down.

I have a question of the article:
After 7 days, all the messages in the outgoing queue are purged? or Only the first 5 messages in the outgoing queue are purged? or The messages received befor 7 days in the outgoing queue are purged?
