our 7290's need a software upgrade. instead of me doing this 1 by 1 on my pc is there a way to push the software via BES? (I am on 4.02 now but will be on 4.2 in january)

Not sure it is possible because it takes the device down while upgrading. At the very least if it was possible you would not be able to restore settings or if you would be it would have to require user input. In my opinion it is still safer (granting it is possible to do it remotely) to do this locally

this has to be performed with desktop manager on the local machine via USB cable. there is no way to push an OS upgrade via wireless.

your best to simply roll out the upgrade instructions for the users.

The carrier will also support users doing handheld upgrades.

Wireless OS upgrade is planned for the next major release of BES. The handhelds will have to be at a particular OS version (4.2 or higher I think) before it can be done.
