Default More E-mail Drama

Please Login to Remove!

What's a blackberry for if it stops checking your e-mail, eh?

...Well 2 nights ago I received an e-mail with a word attachment (which I didn't open), and it hasn't checked my e-mail since.

I've deleted the last few I received and about a month's worth of previous ones...

Any suggestions as to how I can end my
emailless suffering?

Much appreciation...

Reboot the device by (leaving the BB powered ON) removing the battery for 30 seconds, replacing it, and allowing it to reboot.

Wait a few mins for mail, if nothing,

Go to Options > Advanced > HRT > Menu > Register.

You should get a registration message from your carrier. If you don't get it soon, try another battery pull reboot.

Good luck.

Tried them both, thank you.

...didn't get a message from my carrier. Am I just not waiting long enough perhaps?

Thanks.

Options > Advanced > Service books.

Do you see the service book for your email listed there, it would have the @ in it, and [CIMIME] and anoter [CICAL].

Also, can you send a PIN message?

Does your device display EDGE or edge or GPRS or gprs, etc.? Have you tried a battery pull?

Mine displays EDGE (in caps), what does that mean?

That means you have a BB data connection. It's required for any data...email, internet, pin message, etc. If it only says edge you won't get any email or internet, etc.

Yeah, did the battery pulls, etc.

I see UMA, uma and gprs (my browser and I'm work, my g-mail app doesn't, it's not checking my e-mails and the google updater has a tendency to freeze).

As for service books...
I have CICAL and CMIME... And they all have a little tick next to them.

Message Folder > Compose PIN.

You can try sending one to yourself, preferably another person with a BB if you have a friend with one.

yes, I think a PIN to PIN would at least tell if there is connectivity to a data network.

Ok, wrote one out and tried sending it to myself... It's sitting in my e-mail folder, in red, with a little clock next to it. :(

Any thoughts?

If you're using the gmail app do you have your apn settings entered in Options >advanced options >TCP?

No, crap.
They seem to be gone - thank you for pointing that out.

That won't, however, solve my other issue, will it? The not checking my e-mail in the messages folder..

So, did you get this working?
One suggestion, call Orange and confirm your data plan. Yes, I know you see EDGE but sometimes there are issues. Also, you could have a bad sim...

No, I don't see EDGE. I see UMA, uma and gprs...
I'll call them up, they only give me trouble with this!

I still don't have it working. It checks SMS messages, but not my e-mail. *sigh* And won't send the PIN messages.

Ok, but you have to have caps EDGE for the data piece to work...
No pin = no data plan.
Your on the right track and yes, you will have to make the dreaded call. Once this is fixed you should be golden...

It is not uncommon for a carrier to "accidentally" drop a data plan off your account.

Call Orange, and make sure you have the BlackBerry Data Plan.

Thank you all very much and I shall let you know once I have had the call.

Although, I've never had EDGE... only GPRS and UMA... I did once have edge in London though.
