Default [Nextel] BB 7520 upgrade from I730

Please Login to Remove!

I have someone who wants to sell me their BB7520. I have read some of the threads in these forums and had seen issues where people had to be "provisioned" for certain features and such. My question is, could I just use my active SIM from my I730 and insert it into the BB7520? I know it works with most phone swaps but not usre if it carries over to the BB.

Thanks!

The BB uses an older 32k sim. The i730 uses a 64k sim so just swapping it would not work. I don't know why you would want the BB if you wernt getting the data services with it.

If you have any questions just email me at rsaffell@nextel.blackberry.net

The "data" plan for the i730 is entirely different from the BB data plans. Also even if you could use the same SIM you would not be able to access the "phone book" on the i730 SIM as the BB does not store or access Phonebook data from the SIM... Basically you would need a new SIM as noted above and would have to be provisioned with a BB data plan...

funny you asked... I had the exact same issue earlier today and I called Nextel to activate the BB service and they told me that I must have a SIM card made specifically for the BB device and that a "Motorola" SIM card (from i830) wouldn't allow the BB Service to be activated... I called my Nextel Rep who basically said that was B.S. and she called in and had it activated and I simply inserted my "Motorola" SIM into the BB and I was in business!

Funny you should even say that, I took a friends blackberry this AM and put my SIM in for kicks and giggles. It seemed to work fine... my data service carried over....and was able to do what I was able to on the i730. what should I look for that will not work? (calander etc..??)

This isn't entirely true. I upgraded at least 6 i730 phones to Blackberry 7520 devices last week. You can simply take the SIM out of the i730 and put it in the 7520. They are compatible. Of course, you have to call Nextel and have them add the Blackberry plan to your account, but you do not need a new SIM card.

Great, thanks for the info.

Will adding the BB to my plan increase my monthly rate?
