Default SQL Local or remote

Is it even necessary to have sql remote when its all VM. We have less than 200 users. Seems over kill.

Upgrading to 4.1.6 soon and trying to gain input.

is up to you, I went to Full SQL on a remote box for easier backups than what SQL express or MSDE offered.

When you get close to 500 users, you will need SQL express or Full SQL due to MSDE limits.

Looks like 2005 sql express is ok with 4.1.6 locally.. i may just stay with it when we go to 4.1.6.

We were running 4.1.5 with 1000 users on a single BES with SQL on the same box. Backup consisted of Symantec Live Recovery (or something like that) taking snapshots to a remote server, but never used it for recovery so cannot comment on it's effectiveness. The only thing we had to do after 500 users was to upgrade the RAM to 4GB, but otherwise all ran fine.
