When I got my 8330 Curve from verizon, I set up a hotmail account and a gmail account, no problems.

Then after I updated to 4.5, the default email for sending pics was the gmail, wheh it used to be the hotmail. SO I deleted the gmail account and then the hotmail was primary again, great.

Now when I go to the BIS site and try to set up the gmail account again, I get this error.

"An error occured during email account validation.
Please check your information and try again.
If the error persists please contact your email account provider"


Can anyone help me.

OK, I just set up a live email account and that worked perfectly, is there something different I need to do for gmail?

Sounds like an issue connecting to Gmail to verify email address and password. Have you tried to go to gmail and log in to verify the account is working fine? Try changing your gmail password?

I did verify that the gmail account works, I even enabled pop mail which an online help guide suggested.

I never thought of changing the password. I'll try it now.

Changing my password did not help. Browsing through various help messages on google, I have tried enabling imap and pop mail through google settings, and have given the server info to the BIS site myself, and nothing is working. I know someone has had this issue, there are lots of questions on google about it.

Sorry I couldn't help. I'm using Gmail and I have mine set up for IMAP and it works fine. However I only set it up the once.


Just on a whim, did you try a hard boot of the BB, the battery pull?
It's amazing what a reboot can fix
