gimme a friggin break...

what demographics are u looking at anyway! I cant speak for my breathren on this site but i can speak for myself and if blackberry developer think that bb user communities want more games on their bbs..you are smoking dope.
the majority of us do not want a new game, to take pictures, or have cutesy pink colored skins for our bb...WE WANT MORE FUNCTIONALITY!!!!
as usual the developers don't get it..

I think that this contest is a way of getting apps for the handhelds to make the overall image of blackberry more appealing to the everyday consumer. If RIM sprouted off a division and called it huckleberry, they could build pink a purple phones with cameras and memory cards and instead of push mail, could have like push barbie of the day for all the kids who would make mommy and daddy pickup a stylish huckleberry for them...

cd.

Actually, that was Val Kilmer in one of his best performances as Doc Holliday.

BlackBerry is a prosumer device. What that means is that games are important if you have your device with you 24x7. Games are not a primary functionality but secondary. RIM has nailed the primary and is now going after the secondary etc.

I think people need to stop labelling BlackBerry as a pure business tool (RIM themselves don't want that - hence the game challenge). The business case is that:

Do you think people spend 12 hours a day consistently working? Or do they take a second and leave their life for a wild few minutes of BrickBreaker?

Just my 2 cents...I could go on for hours about this....

the prize is pretty weak.

Grand Prize Winner ($14,500 USD value total awards package):
1. $2500 cash
2. handango will promote your game for a year or till it hits $7500 in sales
3. three BlackBerry devices of your choice valued $1200 (i guess you can ebay them)

$2500 + $7500 + $1200 = $11200, where is the last $3300?

2nd and 3rd place winners are listed as $5000 and $3500
But when the prize values are added, their $2800 (missing $2200) and $1400 (missing $2100)

i guess its kinda like the "business case" listed in an earlier post in this thread.
It lacks content and fails to provide a convincing arguement...

ok.

Lets hear your business case for more game vs. more functionality and the "prosumer" aspect factored in:

either you have a developed opinion or your dont.

Im not trying to be disagreeable but..i would really like to hear your case.

tHANKs for any response and i hope to hear a good point.

go eradis...

You missed part of the prizes. Each prize also contains a free membership for one (1) year to the BlackBerry ISV Alliance Program.

I dont find it difficult at all..nor do i think its necessary..

some people have to deliberately make the distinction. therein lies the issue.

I have found that those types of "exec Dirs" are out of touch not only with reality but the real needs of the end user. Kind of like the original post to this thread. One of our problems is that developers "think" they know what the consumer wants...moronic...half ass platform with half ass functionality worried about trying to provide me a cute game vs. providing us a cheaper product with more functionality.

kinda like your add on comments where you offer no real substance..just hot air..

thats what i thought. nothing to offer.

your interests may be best served on the other forums for camera phones and pink slip covers for your phone.

You like the developer..dont get it.. move on...hollywood squares is not looking for anymore guests..

Hey... I thought I was the only person who ever spoke like that and called people names... This is incredible... everybody on the forum was all over me when I would go off on someone... and now that I have to behave myself, everyone else is doing it.

Like really... how come everyone is filling my shoes here when I was being chastized left, right and center for doing it before? I just don't understand somethings.

A month ago nobody could stand me and someone actually quit the forum (oh I know... boo hoo) because of my replies to stupidity and now everyone else is hopping on board to do it. People are even saying they miss the old/real me.

I am so confused...
