There never was an option to disable dial from home screen on a 7100 series.

Some of the downloadable themes have a compose feature, for example Pixelistic. It brings you right to the old style compose page, not the new one with the blank email and To/Cc fields however.

It works as I expect the software to. And more convenient than the old 4.0 compose method, because I can easily use either partial names or email address.

Mark/others,
Since you are signed now, any chance you could churn out a version that uses/adds say, "M" to go straight to a new SMS? I use that more than mail and it could be mighty handy

Uh, M is the shortcut for Messages. C always existed in the past for Compose.

NJBlackberry,
Ok, some other key then The functionality that is being used for mail messages here would be perfect for SMS also, unless there's some other fast way to get to a new SMS that I'm not aware of....

Bug found in this code. Hit C for Compose, start writing a message. Now multitask using Alt+Esc, such as to copy and paste stuff from another application into your email message. When you switch back, the email looks as if it was erased (Hitting Esc brings you back to the partially composed email). Apparently, a new blank email form is created everytime the application is activated. This shouldn't be done; it should only be done at application startup time rather than application activation time.
I sent a second fax to RIM to get my code signing key, this time with more information (providing BOTH billing versus mailing addresses just in case, etc)

Morser, that's a repost. Read above! That utility was created as a result of this post.

For whatever reason, the Compose applet creates an SMS message on the 7250. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this (and why it does so?).
On another note, 4.1 on the 7250 no longer allows dial by name from the phone application. The only way to do this now is a three step wheel process. If anyone has a fix for this, PLEASE let me know!

You can have mine. I don't want it. I'm going back to the old OS. They screwed up too many things in 4.1. It's more annoying than anything.

That app works great! I'm really happy to have my "C" shortcut back now! Thanks Mark and Rambler for the work you all put into this. I love this place!!

Wow, there you go. Community development at work. I'd never considered the Alt-Esc possibility since I almost never use it. You're right though, no point in putting the invocation in activate, it works better in main.

I see that every time I use this to compose an e-mail...not only by using the task switcher...do we know if this has been addressed in a later version? Not that I expect it, just happy to have this...but was just wondering. Would be real neat if they could also create one for SMS! I know...I know....I want everything...but if I don't ask...I'm sure I'll never get it! Still love this "C" thing.
