Default Need a quick app developed - will pay

Please Login to Remove!

I need to have a icon on the main ribbon (with a custom logo), that when clicked will use the BlackBerry Browser and open a URL on our Intranet.

I'm fine with making this an app that works like the BB developer's hello world example, a local HTML page that just loads via the USB port, but I'm open to any ideas you have.

Sound easy? For you yes, but I'm an admin and this is a one-time shot, and I don't have time to learn the programming behind it, so send me an email to:

[email address]

with any questions you have, and a price for your service. I'm interested in a flat-fee only.

Thanks!

Try hitting up jfisher here on BBF, he wrote a little applet that I think does what you're looking for:

Default Program found

I found a free solution here:

www blackberryforums.com/developer-forum/index2.html

[Can't post a link, so you'll have to adjust the line above]

I have to say, I was surprised that no one in this forum was aware of this utility. Being an admin I tend to not read those journals.

Not trying to start a flame war, and it was quite possibly the way I worded the subject line, but with over 100 views to my request, I would have thought at least a couple of developers would have known about this utility.

At least people who search this forum like I did will now have a link.

jfisher,
Do you still offer this app? The links in the old threads appear to be no good.

that site has gone unfortunately, there's a new feature in the api that allows you to change the application name at runtime so at some point soon i'll rewrite the application suite and release it through my home page (see below).

cheers,
jon

[edit - download the web shortcut suite here: http://jonathanhfisher.co.uk/softwar..._shortcuts.zip - extract the zip and install using the desktop manager software, slightly updated, i'll add a web page for the software later today - i'll also look into writing an extended version where you can specify the titles of the shortcuts]

[edit2 - to keep things tidy here's a link to a short article on the different methods to spawn the browser: Programming BlackBerry Web Shortcuts

[edit3 - et voila: Blackberry Web Shortcuts ]

Default URL to Good Push App

I don't have enough 'post credit' here to put in an actual link, and the last one was messed up when I tried, so you'll have to put this one together to go to the site:

www blackberry.com/developers/journal/july_2005/net_a_simple_push_application.shtml

It works well.

Default True..

But after leaving you two messages, one via the forums and one to your personal e-mail, with no response I found the information I needed, and simply wanted to post my findings here, for others.

No need for any further responses, as I will not be replying any further on this thread.

My original need has been satisfied, and my URL link is for others to decide if they find it useful or not.

I know I would have.

jjenkins,
jfisher has written very helpful, free apps for the members of this site for quite some time. Don't take out your frustrations on him. Your question was answered by rivviepop and you didn't post again for 2 weeks so your thread never got bumped and was lost into the thousands of posts that are here.

I'm glad you got your issue resolved. However, ripping on experienced, contributing members of this site with your first few posts will not get you much help here.

Take it easy....

jfisher,
Thanks for the new links. Looking forward to the new version!! Again, thanks for the GREAT app!
