Default Can I migrate a SIM from an i90c to 7510?

Please Login to Remove!

I currently have a Nextel plan with Nextel Online. I migrated a SIM card from an i90c to a new 7510 that I purchased without a SIM card. I can connect to the Nextel service and receive and make phone calls, but I do not have any icons for Nextel Online. I called Nextel to see if they could activate the online service on the phone and I was told that I would need a Blackberry SIM card in order to use Nextel Online.

It turns out that I had also purchased a 6510 with a SIM card, and on that Blackberry there are icons for Nextel Online and Nextel.com. The SIM card appears to look the same on this phone as the one I took from my i90c.

Questions:
1) Is there a specific Blackberry SIM card that must be used and
2) Do I have to download the Nextel Online app?

TIA

A sim from another nextel phone can certainly be used in a bb. However, you must have a bb data plan through Nextel to get ANY data services at all (WAP or html browsing, email, text, etc). There is no difference between a regular nextel sim and a bb sim except for the services provisioned to the sim and possibly the memory (Nextel makes and uses both a 32k sim and a 64k sim).

When I switched from an i730 to the 7510, they forced me to go to the SIM that came with the BB.

It didn't seem to be any different, I even had the phone function working with the previous SIM, but they forced me to move to the new SIM.

I thought the whole idea of a SIM card was swap and play.

Nextel feels otherwise.

In most cases that is true, but the bb doesn't read phone numbers off the sim in the first place. There really isn't a reason to activate a new bb sim with a bb, because you can always pull the bb sim and put it in another phone without a problem. Most of the cs reps at Nextel think that the bb sim is a completley different thing than the other sim cards too--not sure if thats what they've been told to say or what, but it is annoying to those of us who know the truth. Oh well....
