Default handheld 4.0 for Verizon

Hi all,

I have a 7750 with Verizon Wireless. Can anyone tell me how I can get the 4.0 handheld software? or is it not available yet? if so, anyone know when it'll be available?

thank you for your time.

Thanks a lot....I was able to download the software from the Telus link and it's working like a charm so far.

I spoke to a very nice rep today at Verizon (866-463-2244) and she told me that she consulted a tech who told her that their target date for the handheld OS 4 is 1/24 though that could change based on info they received yesterday. I asked her if "that could change" means delayed or moved up and of course she said delayed.

just thought I'd let you know....

Default VZW 7750

Hello!

I also have the 4.0 software running on my Verizon 7750. I just installed it last night. Do you think your 7750 BB runs slower with the 4.0 software than it did with the 3.7???

I'm usually paranoid with software flashes and wonder if it took correctly. In addition, I talked to Verizon on the telephone just two days ago and they said that although they can enable a provisioning on my account for the WWW it doesn't mean it will work....

So basically, I was told a modification was made to the provisioning on my account which would enable the WWW if I setup the gateway on my BB correctly. I still do not have web browsing... but I do have the 4.0 OS running....

In addition, as per the instructions for the 4.0 upgrade, I did delete the vendor.xml file from the appropriate directory... after the upgrade, the vendor.xml I see is basically an empty file. Do you have a vendor.xml that actually lists the 4.0 OS???

---More help for WWW on VZW 7750 BB please!

My handheld (as well as everyone else's we upgraded at my company) is definitely experiencing delays since the upgrade.

I'm not sure about your WWW situation since we have a BES server.

While the Telus 4.0 upgrade method is working fine for us, does anyone have any idea when the Verizon 4.0 handheld OS will be available via Verizon?
it's really horrible how slow they seem to be releasing this sort of stuff. Last I've been told it was supposed to be out 1/24/05 but I haven't asked since then.

On February 1st I talked to Verizon and they said that 4.0 was out and the website should be updated soon.

On February 2nd I talked to Verizon and they said that 4.0 was for the new 7250 only and that sometime over the next year it would be available for the 7750.

In other words Dont Hold Your Breath!

Verizon will release 4.0 for the 7750 but my bet is it is still far off.
If you need 4.0 right now then you will need to switch to the 7250 or switch providers.

Default Verizon 4.0 OS

Well it is now the 10th and still no sign of the 4.0 OS for a verizon device. Through my connnections at rim, I was not able to get even a hint of a projected release date. I was told that verizon was notrously slow in thier gold build process. I would not expect the OS to be out anytime in the near future

Verizon is horrible when it comes to customer care when it is dealing with upgrades. I dont know what they are doing draging thier heals. Rim builds both the hardware and software. If RIM has released it, there should be some minimal testing to say -- YES it does work on our network or No it does not. This is not a 6 to 7 month test process.

My feeling is they did not want the 4.0 upgrade available before the release of the 7250 to ensure that there would be all the early adopters jump to a new device gaining some new sales before they bring the older technology up to date.

I have to admit the 7250 looks really nice with the larger amount of memory.

I have seen that on another thread here, someone said Verizon will be pushing out the browser service for the 7250 on Feb. 11th. I dont know if this will include the 7750 but it may.

I wont hold my breath on a date though as they are always one of the last to release anything.

Here's hoping!!!

I just got off the phone with the support tech and he said that 4.0 and Browser service book will be available for the 7750 and 6750 on February 12th.

he said you would have to call the support team to get the download site but that the 12th is a Hard date for obtaining the 4.0 OS!!!!

For those interested, Verizon has changed phone #'s for thier blackberry Support.

The new number is (866) 788-9387

This is interesting because I got an e-mail at noon today saying "Welcome to Nextel and Blackberry, your account is now active" This seems to be coming from RIM and not Nextel.

Default 7750-4.0-Verizon

Another 4.0 anticipated release date has come and gone for Verizon. Also, they told me that it's unclear whether the upgrade will allow web browsing, without utilzing the BES, on the 7750.

Do you guys recommend downloading the Telus 4.0 and will the HTML browser and other 4.0 features work properly? If so, is there anything special that has to be done to enable the browser and assure that the upgrade goes in smoothly?

(With the 3.6, I am able to open Word but not Excel documents. Is this normal and will I gain the ability to open Excel on 4.0?)

Thanks very much for your help!

Yea I wasn't holding my breath about it. I talked with a Verizon tech support person on Friday and he said they had not been given a date when 4.0 would be released. If my BB was something I depended upon every day I think I would just stick with 3.7.
