Default Rogers 8100 software does not fix "ring in pocket" issue

Please Login to Remove!

Sad to say the newest software upgrade does not fix the ring in pocket issue that everyone has been complaining about.

What it does to is stop if for one ring cycle and will start it up again on the next. I have an MP3 ringer that I made and its 20 seconds, so it basically never rings again when the track ball has moved. ;)

Same with vibrate - stops the first vibrate, but the next will start up.

Personally, I'd like the trackball to have to affect on the ringing/vibrate. Although I must admit I used the trackWHEEL for this very purpose before. Issue is the pearl is easier to access by mistake in your pocket.

Strange, I have about a min and a half ring tone. When I scroll the ball when my phone is ringing it will pause it for about 2 seconds or so, then it will start the ring tone back up again.

Maybe try a longer ringtone and see if that helps.

Also the main issue was while the phone was locked or in standby any touch to the trackball would stop the ring/vibe. With the upgrade while its locked or in standby it still rings while touched. Also mine also only stops for 1-2 seconeds and starts back up again I agree try a longer ringtone and see what happens

Yes - the issue was when the BB was locked. The Pearl moving stopped the ringer. If the BB is unlocked, moving the Pearl is designed to stop the ringer - just as moving the trackwheel on another BB would do the same.

This update did fix the problem where moving the Pearl on a LOCKED BB would cause the ringer to silence.

same for me. locked or not. it does the same thing. trackball roll stops the ringer for a 1sec then starts it up again.

Maybe I'll start to lock my phone, but can we silence the ringer when its locked with another button?

Same goes me. Personally I like it that way.
