Default Emergency Calls Only?

Please Login to Remove!

I have a 6750 Blackberry that a friend gave me. I have the service connected, however I cannot make a call. I get an error "Sorry, Only Emergency Calls Are Allowed". Bell Mobility assures me that this is an option setting on the unit. My question is how do I deactivate this option since I cannot find it.

Thanks,

Joe

If the BB was attached to a BES at any point, a policy might be on the device that is restricting voice services. Check under Options->Security. If a policy name is listed and the carrier says your account looks good, the phone app is probably restricted by policy. The only way to can undo this is to attach the device to a BES and deliver a less-restrictive policy.

I am not sure what BES is. I did check in Options/Security and found "General User" for IT Policy Name. It also has an update date of Nov.1,2004

Then the device was connected to a BES (BlackBerry Enterprise Service). This is ussually but does not have to mean that the deivce was running through a corporate environment, there are also countless private BES services that the device could have been attached to. Is your friend still around ask him, if he is still at the company that had the IT Policy placed on it then perhaps he can have it updated, if not look for a thread here about removing IT Policy that may help you.

Thumbs up test IT policy "cannot make calls"

I have a BIS user with a test IT policy and she cannot make calls. I am going to add her device to my Company BES and remove all policies and then delete the user account and test. Will let you know.
