Just bought a used Bold 9700 today & I plugged it in to charge the battery , The connection at the phone doesn't go in all the way & the Yellow light on the phone blinks ! Is this normal ? I am somewhat of a cell phone Luddite so I am perplexed ?

They yellow light usually indicates that the battery is charging. It is possible that the battery is completely drained and needs a long time to charge. Leave it overnight and see what happens.
