ZIP/ARCHIVE utility
BB's need a good prog to work with zip files. How frustrating is it when you finaly find a great app while using your BB browser only to find that it's only a .zip file that you can download??
Thanks

I want a "close all" button. I always have tons of programs running without realizing it!

Something like this would help prolong the amount of time between those silly battery pulls.
Those battery pulls really are a crazy workaround. It seems to me that a device as advanced as this should be able to handle memory a LOT better than it does. What is the deal with that anyway?
I know, wrong thread...

I would LOVE to see an application that could make my phone vibrate like more then 3 times when receiving text messages.
I used to use notifire and it has the ability to vibrate up to 10 times when receiving text and email but it sadly does not work on the new 4.5 OS.. :(
(ok it does work but it pops up a message notification and then will not repaint the screen when you close the notification so you have to go into a new screen then back into what you were doing. UGH!)

Assign one of the side keys to 'Lock' instead of an application. That's what I did - when I want to lock the phone with password I just press the silver button on the right of my Curve.

JS, I'd like to see an app that makes the ball blink when you have a missed message or call?
That'd be cool

auto compose/salutation
Hello,
i have a great idea for a simple app. I sent it to a friend at Rim and he liked it, i think they will include it in future devices but i would like it now.
when composing an email, it would be nice for the first name of the contact to automatically be placed on line 2 in the message body with a comma and the cursor ready for the body of message on line 3 or 4.
i find most bb users compose like this.
feedback?
ps...also a "pin all" feature for when you change devices...i hate trying to look up contacts with pins.

Wirelessly posted (8130 Pearl)
I would like a program that would require the side keys to be held down before they activate. They're way too sensitive and if I had a nickel for every time I've accidentally activated the camera or VZ Navigator, I'd be very rich. I know I can either lock the phone or put it in standby, but that only minimizes the problem, doesn't solve it.

How about one that would allow me to link up my iPod Touch & my BB? Maybe even let me tether the two so I could use the iPod Touch web browser through the BB.

After trying out a number of PIM replacements, I came to the conclusion that all I really need is this:
To have an app that would "skin" the native PIM in Month view to show a bottom preview pane. That's all I really want from Agendus, PI, etc anyway. They both have it, but they both are so sloooow, and neither one will replace native PIM. It would be so great to click on "calendar" and have it take me to Month view with a preview pane.

I don't know if this is possible, but I would LOVE to be able to hear custom ringtones through my bluetooth headset. I've read that the ability to do this is depends entirely on the phone, so perhaps there's a chance that an application could be made to do this...?
Also, SMS THREADING!

Another vote here for better SMS threading. I would love it if it was like the BB Messenger, so an entire conversation is included in one SMS message in your inbox. The conversation can be reopened days later and started again with no more individual messages cluttering your inbox. The Palm Treo does this as well. Not much else to recommend the Treo, mind you, but it does threaded SMS.

A genealogy program. There aren't any at all for the BB and only one I've found for other devices (Pocket Genealogist from Northern Hills Software).
Quoted from Eastman's Online Genealogy Newsletter:
Northern Hills Software does occasionally get an inquiry about supporting Symbian but even then just a miniscule percentage compared to BlackBerry's, Apple iPhone or even the Palm OS.

Another poster asked if there were any plans for developing one for BB but no response has been posted and no evidence can be found to indicate there are any such plans.
If any devs are interested in working on this but need input from genealogists, I'd be happy to help and could find others as well.
Somebody, please develop a program!
Thanks.

From other thread people wanted the program on computer that can remote access the blackberry. IE blackberry as server, and computer as client.
I would love to have that, expecially if my blackberry got lost.

I would also like to be able to log into my BIS account on my computer and access my email again, like I could way back when.

LED colors
I'd like an app that controlled the LED color based on the sender of the e-mail, or at least, the e-mail account where I received it.
