Bedside mode broken in 4.6.0.162
Please Login to Remove!
My understanding of how bedside mode works in the new clock is that it shows the clock on the screen in a "dimmed" mode all the time. It overrides the screen timeout and stays "always on". At least that is how I remember it functioning when I got my bold. In this OS version however, the LCD screen times out and goes blank. Just looking for a gut check on if this is really broken or not.

The screen will go black (while in bedside mode) if the phone is not charging/plugged in.

For the first couple of firmwares the Bedside mode used to work the same way when the Bold was either plugged in or not. In all the recent builds the Bedside mode will overwrite the timeout only when the phone is plugged in.

On my BB, the screen goes dark in Bedside mode even when it is charging/plugged in. Are you guys saying that on your BB, the screen stays on in Bedside mode all the time when it is plugged in?

Yes, that is what we are saying. When plugged in and set to Bedside Mode the screen dims but stays lit indefinitely.
Do you have a 3rd party app that may be controlling the screen functions? If not, there my be an issue with your device.

Understood. Thank you for the clarification.
So here is what is happening on my device.
- When I set the clock options to "Enter Bedside Mode" when charging, it stays in Bedside mode and the screen does not go dark
- When I manually enter Bedside mode through the clock menu, the screen goes dark after a few seconds (the normal screen timeout). This behavior is the same whether it is charging or not.
I am more concerned about the latter...which I think was an "always on" mode.

So, yes, i've been called, both slow and blind before... but I can't find the option to "enter bedside mode when charging". In the Clock menu, i do see a Enter Bedside Mode.... but no option to automatically do it when charging.
any help?

i am having this problem also!
i am running .190 and set "do nothing when charging" because i got a car charger and dont want my bold going into bedside mode during the day while driving or charging at my office.
when i go to bed and manually set bedside mode and place it on the charger the screen times out and goes black.
anyone have this issue with .190
