Reload Software 552 but can't cannot to desktop

I have a reload software 552 messasge on my tour. I cannot even attempt to reload the software because the desktop manager does not recognize my phone is connected. I updated the device drivers, I checked & changed USB ports, I tried different USB cables but cannot connect. The desktop does recognize two other BB's in the house -a storm and curve but not my tour. When my phone is connected I can click on device connected pin at the bottom of the desktop manager and my phone with it's pin is the option I have to choose but I still cannot connect.
Verizon told me to delete the lastes version of the desktop manager and try 4.7 since my pc is a 64 bit. But no luck. My work pc is not a 64 bit and I cannot connect to the desktop on it either.
On the bottom right of my pc is the device manager and it shows my phone to be connected but the desktop disconnected.
Is it possible that the reload software is affecting my ability to connect to the desktop manager or maybe my USB port on my phone has an issue?
Any insight is appreciated.
