No way on the BB to do it.
Some workarounds (like start to make a phone call, then take the picture) have been posted.

Some countries have laws against being able to mute the camera so it's not lame.

heckler: make a phone call (e.g., call 611) and the shutter sound is disabled for the duration of the call. You can use the camera during the call.
