Default Motorola S9 Bluetooth Stereo headset FYI

Please Login to Remove!

I have the 8100 and 8800 and looked into the S9 bluetooth stereo headset for music purposes. Per the Cingular website the S9 headset is supported by the pearl. Being that the headset is a stereo headset one would think that it will work for music purposes....or if they meant it works for phone calls only(which it does) they should have put it under all BT devices (ie. 8800) as being compatible.

Accessory Details | AT&T, formerly Cingular Wireless

Anyway I am on the phone with them now raising hell... I am being told that special software needs to be downloaded...LOL..These people dont know SH*T

these were shipped to a few friends in iraq originally so it is a big deal to me and I want answers!! Keep you posted.

But I thought it was common knowledge that the 8100 and 8800 doesn't support A2DP natively which is necessary for BT stereo headsets.

Default S9

It would only be common knowledge if you knew everything about that particular subject.

In my industry everyone knows that the correct symbol rate for Qam 256 is 5.036 and not 6.036 because its "common knowledge"

Also that a post BER of 2.4-e04 is not acceptable for a Qam 256 signal because it "common knowledge"

So I suppose you know that right because its common knowledge?

Also the cingular web site saye its compatible with a pearl!

Anyway..the rep 3rd rep Jessica straight up said that there are alot of employees that dont know crap about many products and just talk crap to sell. She said to call RIM...Yeah ok like that will get me any place!

Hahaha. Good point and you do have a point.

I suppose it could be confusing a bit from the conflicting information on websites and sales people. But I think you might be out of luck. The best that could come out of this is possibly returning some of the headsets. :(

When I went and picked up my Blackberry from my local Cingular store, the rep there told me that the S9s worked with the Pearl. I had just bought a headset a few day prior, and didn't feel like dropping another 130$ since I already went overboard with the bundle pack and all the stupid goodies we all get talked into. I also heard that it plays the sound in mono, but comes through both sides, which wouldn't be that big of a deal. If anyone gets them, let me know if they work, b/c I want them for when I go to the gym, play golf, or when I'm running. Thanks!

This thread is already telling you they don't work. Do you mean if anyone gets them to work? They do not transfer music.

I have the Moto S9 and have got the pearl to transfer music to it. It only works in the left ear and the sound is horrible. I also bought the S9 because the Cingular website showed it as compatible with the pearl. Did not know at the time of purchase that the pearl did not support A2DP. Ohhh Well im keeping the S9 hoping Apple will make an ipod with the A2DP technology soon. Just wishfull thinking.

I just bought one from an AT&T store -- I wish I had found this forum first. The thing that I find the most disturbing is that the RIM website seems to have multiple personalities. One page states that "With the media player included on Blackberry 8100 Pearl...plug in a stereo headset, or pair up any bluetooth stereo accessory" and the "fun goes with you." However, a different page states "Streaming music from the Blackberry device to a Bluetooth enabled headset using Bluetooth wireless technology is not supported by the Blackberry device." Um, I confused??!! So which is it -- of course if you have purchased the device or read this thread you would know the true answer. It wouldn't be such a big deal if the AT&T store(s) actually took the product back, but mine for one does not so I am out the $130. I already have three Jabra JX10s sitting at home (don't ask) just waiting to look sexy in my ear so I don't need another phone-only bluetooth device. I bought the S9 for media play only. Boy, what a mistake!!

Default Why are you so angry nbavosa

It seems that you should spend more time researching your purchases and less time explaining the symbol rate of Qam. The people that work in the carrier stores are sales people they work on commission they are notrious for being uniformed liars. Here is a Google search string that might help you ITF Blackberry + Pearl + A2DP.

Let's keep the language clean, please.....

I'm pretty sure that it takes OS 4.2.2 and above for A2DP stereo Bluetooth. The only device out right now that has this OS is the 8830 and the 8300. And even those devices have bugs in the A2DP. Right now they only play stereo BT for music. Video stereo bluetooth doesn't work.

Just take the thing back if you don't like it. They'll do it if you ask nicely for a higher up person and hang in there. Just tell 'em it doesn't work and you don't need a replacement because you hate BT now.

Default 4.2.2? Where?

That's very nice of RIM to update the OS to support A2DP... Looks like all we have to do now is wait for the carriers; as of 13 July 2007 the latest OS available from T-Mobile is 4.2.0.64.

Not that anyone is waiting on T-Mobile because they don't seem to have any interest in providing an update. We will just have to wait until another carrier releases 4.2.2 for the Pearl and then upgrade following the very simple instructions that John Clark or JSanders so kindly posts when someone finds and posts the new OS is available.

Is the 4.2.2.240 for the 8800, where did you get it. I don't think there is a 4.2.2 version for the 8800 or 8100 out yet unless you know otherwise.

4.2.2.x won't be made available for the Pearl. You're going to have to sit tight and wait for OS 4.3.1.x to be made available early next year (assuming priorities are still in order). It's in EARLY beta testing stages now (only available to a select number of RIM employees).
