Default auto on/off

What exactly is auto on/off? Does that mean the phone will shut down at the specified times? I have it set to shut down at midnight, and turn back on at 7:00am. Last night I got an email at 4:30am and it woke me up. I made sure it was on, and the times were correct. If this doenst work, i guess I will have to manually shut it off.

The auto on/off does indeed shut the device off and turn it back on at your preset times. It could be possible that you didn't click the "save" option after you made the selections.
If all the settings are correct, try removing the battery momentarily and that should solve your problem.

I use the auto on/off feature all the time. The phone shuts down at the time you set , and powers up when you request.

I did have an issue once where an alarm on my calendar woke the phone up in the middle of the night. I don't know if that was a bug or something I did wrong.

Double check and make sure that you have the auto on/off enabled.

Yeah the times are correct, and it's enabled for weekend and weekday. I will test it out tonight by sending myself an email. I thought thats what that feature was for, but it pissed me off when it started ringing last night. It was a spam email too.

I use my auto on as an alarm clock and it has been very reliable. If I remember correctly the problem I had was an appointment alarm waking up in the middle of the night and turning the device on at around midnight. I think I resolved it by not setting any alarms for overnight.

my old 8700 and my 8100 both work the same. It shuts it off and on reliably. I have never tested to see if an alarm or calendar alarm would wake it though.... does it? Emails and calls do not for sure, because the cell/radio is off.

The calendar reminders still come through during auto off time.

Try setting the off time to 11:59pm, rather than 12:00 am. That could be causing the phone to be "confused" about when to actually shut off. I had this isssue with a Treo.
