i'm pretty sure the sk3 can handle wap browsing.
you forgot to add video playback for the pearl.
also, most sk3 applications aren't free.

I don't think it have WAP browsing. I double check on it though... I think that's one complaint some people have.

Unlimited text IS included in this plan whether you start it new or have had service.

Dude, for the third time, text and mms is included in the "minutes and mail" plan. There's the "minutes and executive mail" plan which does not include text and mms that you are confusing it with. It is not grandfathered it is available to all new costumers and is the reason why I switched over from a sidekick.

BlackBerry Minutes & Mail Rate Plan: BlackBerry Minutes & Mail details
that's the link to my "minutes & mail" plan clearly showing unlimited text. again, there's the "minutes & enterprise mail" plans which do not include text, and the "minutes & mail" plans which do include unlimited text. the rest of the plans can be found on the link below. to make it anymore clearer, look for the "minutes & mail" plans under the "Blackberry Internet Service Plans" not the "Blackberry Enterprise Service Plans."
Internet & E-mail data plans: rate plan details for the wireless web
looks like you've got some work to do updating that chart.

It appears that you will only get unlimited text messages if you sign up for the special Blackberry Whenever minutes.

actually, a minutes and mail plan is a specific for the blackberry.
(ie blackberry minutes and mail)
includes 1000 anywhere minutes & unlimited data and text messages.
$59.99
not to be confused with the BES blckberry minutes & mail for 69.99

Wait - IM messages sent with the included client are charged per message? This is not kosher, to me, and if they try and charge me for that I'm going to get very, very upset. That's not disclosed anyplace that I saw.

Yes, on the Sidekick 3, you can turn on the light on the trackball so you can use it as a flashlight. On the 8100, there's no option for that. Probably the closest thing you can get is to have your light on the screen on.

The IM client on the Blackberry is made by OZ. It uses Text Messaging to send and receive messages. If you have Unlimited Text Messaging as mention above this post, you will not be charged for it.
If you don't have it, than you will be charged whenever you send and recieve messages with IM included on the 8100
A few people who use it are not very happy with it. So that's why I recommend using Ramble or Yak-On or others. Those programs uses data to send and receive texts.
