Default Still can't get 4.5 to work on ATT 8310

Please Login to Remove!

Alright, so back in december when AT&T finally released 4.5.0.110 for their 8310, I tried loading it on my GFs 8310. As I stated in the ATT 4.5.0.110 thread, the device would restart after connecting to the network with 4.5. I put like over 12+ hours into this. Tried it all, wiping the device numerous times and reloading the software, using JL CMDR, and I even tried not restore any data at all and using the phone clean and empty with just 4.5 loaded. Same problem.

Did it without the memory card, even switched between three batteries. No luck, the device still restarted as soon as I turn on mobile network and connects. Its un-usable, it can't stay on for more than 3 mins.

So yesterday, I said, heck, i'll try it with the newest OS, and loaded 4.5.0.124. Same results. What the hell!

Anyone else have this problem? His my gfs 8310 unable to run 4.5? We're about one step away from calling AT&T and having them swap it out.

Just trying to figure out if I've missed something.

It won't help your problem but I habe the same device on AT&T and used both 110 and now 124 without issue. I'd go for the device swap.

right now, i'm leaning towards that option, it actually looks like my only option. Just trying to get ideas out there.

Has anyone ever heard or experienced this? A device unable to run 4.5?

hmmm, called up RIM today. No luck with them. They said never heard of it. So advised me to call ATT. I did today, and got no help. Basically the guy told me, it's happened, and the only alternative is to use 4.2 cause you can't use 4.5. I said that was unacceptable, and he put me on hold and either hung up or we got disconnected.

That is odd. The only thing that I've seen cause reboots is the media card. You said you tried it without the media card. Do you mean you tried the install without the media card in? Or you completely removed the media card after the upgrade?

anything you can think of. I've read every thread regarding updating OS. I never leave the media card in the phone to begin with when loading OS.

I was able to install 4.5.0.110 on two different 8310's using the instructions on this forum. Sounds like you have something janky in that phone. I have been on 4.5 for quite some time now. Just downloaded and ran loader.exe. Maybe if you have more than one OS on the PC you are using to load 4.5 it could be confusing the load? I had 4.2 on my Vista box but took it off before installing 4.5. That would be the only thing different that I did from the instructions on the forums. Sorry you are having trouble. The new 8310's from AT&T here in Texas are coming with 4.5.0.110 on them so that could fix your whole issue. Good luck.

1. I would remove media card.
2. unistall current deviceOS from your PC
3. DL and reinstall a fresh copy of the lastest OS to your PC.

4. pull the battery.
5. go to c:\prog files\common files\Research in motion\apploader and run loader.exe let it go through the complete process. your device will reboot and you will get 507 error on your screen.

6. put the battery back in
7. repeat step 5, this time you wont get 507 error

hopefully that helps

Tried that numerous times

Just a follow up, I was still uncessfully, and ended up getting the phone replaced. They actually had local ATT Service Centers and we just went in a swapped it. The "service techs" there said that they have seen this problem.

Anyway the replacement devices come already preloaded with 4.5 and everything is working great.
