Default So if the 8350i can run 4.6, why can't the 8330?

Please Login to Remove!

They look like similar enough hardware from what i can tell, aside from the CDMA/iDen radios.

Because the OS versions are model specific (ie you can run the OS for an 8310 on an 8230) and 4.6 has not been (and reportedly will not be) developed for the 8330.

Only if it's developed for the 8320.

Just to clarify-

OS upgrades are phone model specifc (i.e; an OS upgrade designed for an 8330 will not work on an 8320).

However, they are not carrier specific, as long as they are for the same model of device (for example, a T-Mobile OS upgrade for an 8100 would in fact work on a Vodafone 8100), provided you follow these steps:

Yes, but can the Easter Bunny fill in for the Tooth Fairy if Tooth Fairy is too busy one night?

Whoops!

My post in parenthesis obviously meant to say (ie you can NOT run the OS for an 8310 on an 8230) .

It may even have meant to say ...8310 on 8320.

Yeah, I should stop posting in this thread.

Although, my corrected statement is in fact factually correct, what you wrote is what I meant to say.

The 8350i does have more RAM compared to the 8330, maybe that plays in why it's 4.6 instead.

generally speaking the 8300, 8310, 8320, and 8330 are lumped together. if os is made for 1, its typically made for all. Not everytime so you need to check, but on a general note.
8350i is on its own

Look doesn't really mean anything. 4.6 was probably required for the hardware in the 8350 where it's not necessary for the 8330 (this sort of thing is not uncommon as new devices are released). In any case, each model's OS is different as has already been pointed out. I think you're thinking of the BB OS like Windows whereas the BB OS is more closely tied to the hardware.

What exactly do you feel is missing from the 8330 that you need from 4.6 or are you just fretting over version numbers?
