Default Downgrade for 8320

Please Login to Remove!

I recently upgraded my Curve 8320, as per a message from T-Mobile. I now have the .81 update. It sucks, well probably not, but I miss my old phone. The volume sucks, the phone is slow, the camera has basically zero memory...this upgrade was absolute shit.

Any suggestions on how to get my old OS back?

You can look for OS 4.2.xx (which is the one before the upgrade) on the BlackBerry website. Chances are Tmobile won't have any left, but you can find a 4.2 version from another carrier. Just be sure to remove the vendor file when you downgrade.

Sorry to hear you have the problem. I had been considering the same upgrade (also have 8320 on Tmobile running OS 4.2.x). In the end I decided to stay with what I have since I haven't had a real need for the upgraded features and this version is stable for me.

I thought the same too.. but since T-Mobile sent me the text to tell me about it, I figured it was something good to do for the phone. Ever since then I learned about these Blackberry forum sites and the .81 isn't even the newest update. I messed up bad. I just need to find the old verison.

What was the OS before the .81 update I had? Just so I could attempt to find it.

I have 4.2.2.180 so that should be the previous version before the update.

Shoot I can't find it on the website either. It used to be that that you could find another mobile provider that that had a version of 4.2.2.x that you could use. Will let you know if I come across anything. Hopefully someone else might be able to chime in on this as well.

You might be able to google and find some old hosting of it. But you're more likely to find another 4.2 OS that was not released. Since you're going to change the OS anyway, why not try an upgrade to an even higher version before you go back?

I did find AIS Thailand has 4.2.2.175. Go through the carriers until you find the one you want, or one about that same level.

Much appreciated everybody. I hope the upgrade/downgrade, whatever I decide to do will just fix the phone. It'll be a lot cheaper then changing carriers because thats what I was going to do since I'm basically fed up with tMO with service issues etc.

Hopefully if any of your suggestions work, I could save a couple bucks and live out my contract.

Thanks.

Now how do I put the update on the phone, unlike the other time I did it, it didn't automatically prompt me that I have an update on my computer. It just shows my desktop manager and nothing pops up. How do I start to do this? App loader?

Remove the old os from the computer and install the 4.2.2.175 one (or which ever downgrade you are using).
