Default Turning Modem Mode off??

Please Login to Remove!

Ok I searched and have found nothing. I bought a new GPS, TomTom GO720. It has Bluetooth so that my BB (8330 via Sprint) connects through it and makes it where you can use the GPS as a handfree device like a Blue Ant and other devices. It's pretty cool.

Now the problem I am having is that you can also connect to the internet via my BB with the GPS. It goes into Modem Mode on the BB. I used it once right after setting the GPS up. It downloaded real time traffic and weather which was pretty cool. ButI decided I wasn't going to do that every time. So then I disabled it on the GPS. The "Modem Mode" title on the top of the screen is off, but I don't think it is actually off. The reason why is that I have been getting the "Recieving Arrow" in the top right non stop. Which in turn is killing the battery.

So now that the problem has been told, are there any ideas out there? The funny thing is, I am probably just missing something that I forgot. So any input would be awesome! Thanks!

Yes, I've done all the normal restarts. Everything from powering down and back up to pulling the battery. Sorry I should have stated that.

The only thing I can think of is there is a memory leakage issue somewhere, or the Tom Tom is continually trying to connect to your berry. Have you tried deleting the tom tom out of your saved devices?

It is doing this just sitting here. The TomTom is turned off in my vehicle, and I'm inside my office with my BB. After looking, the only place I see my TomTom on my BB is in the Bluetooth screen.

Have you tried doing a memory cleaning? After that I have no clue as to why you are constantly getting the arrows. Maybe try turning off our GPS on your phone.

Memory cleaning was done and I keep the GPS on my phone off. I guess I will be resorting to calling customer service or BB Tech support.

Yeah, that was one of the first things I did. I thought that might fix the problem. I even deleted the TomTom as a device on the Bluetooth menu. Still have recieving arrow and major baterry drain. I have the BB plugged in and it will not even charge up. Granted the BB is still on, but it is just holding the current charge.

I talked to Tech Support. This is how to fix it:
Go to Options - Moible Network - Data Services (turn that off) - wait a few minutes then turn it back on - then click the BB key and start provisioning.

That fixed it so far. So I guess if this ever happens to someone, there will be a topic on it. Thanks for all the help.
