Thanks for the great stuff posted here. I'm on my 4th Blackberry (7250, 8830, Pearl and now Curve) and love them. I hope my questions are not too idiotic.

My new Dell laptop (Latitude D830) has built in Bluetooth. What things can I do via Bluetooth with my Curve to my laptop?

Can I send data to my laptop? (images, emails, video, music, etc.)?

Can I synch my Curve with my laptop via Bluetooth?

Are there any other things I can due via a Bluetooth connection between my laptop and Curve?

Yes, you can transfer files (pictures, videos, music, ringtones, etc.) back and forth between your laptop and Curve via BT.

Yes, you can syn via BT.

You can also use BT to connect to your Curve to use it as a modem, to get Internet access. Basically (since you're on Verizon), pair your Curve to your laptop via BT, in the BB Device Manager, go into Connection options and check the box to enable BT. Then, in Windows create a new Dial-up Networking Connection. Use the COM port that is provided by Bluetooth. Set it to dial "#777" (without the quotes). Turn off Hardware Flow Control. Once you set that up, you can put a shortcut to the Dial-up connection and your desktop and simply double-click it whenever you want to get on the Internet. This is call "tethering".

Be aware that tethering via BT eats up your battery. I don't use BT for a tethered connection for more than 15 - 30 minutes at a time unless I know I'll be able to charge my phone soon after. I would *guess* that BT tethering could completely eat a full battery charge on my Pearl in about 2 hours.

Thanks a ton. I never did find "Hardware Flow Control" or anything about COM port (my bluetooth is internal on my laptop?), but I believe the tethering is set up correctly. Could it be the fact that I am using Vista?

If you want to use Bluetooth with your BB and your laptop you need to have just the bare Windows Bluetooth Stack/Drivers installed. The Toshiba Stack/Drivers won't work with Desktop Manager. Hopefully, someday RIM will fix this. I have the Dell 360 BT card and I can't get the Windows drivers to recognize it at all. No BT/BB for me.

My Dell Latitude D830 has the Dell 360 card installed. In fact, my laptop arrived without the card which arrived 4 weeks later and I installed it. My laptop and Curve have paired and I've been able to synch, swap files and tether (as explained above). On the other hand some weird stuff has also been occuring. Among a couple of other oddities, I get pop-up warnings that I'm not connected to the internet, even though my T1 line is operating perfectly. I ended up de-pairing and will use the cable to synch and will probably only re-pair if I ever need to tether.

So...in Seinfeld speak, I've paired, synched, swapped, surfed, and depaired only to re-pair later when needed.

I have a 8703e and am on the Cellular South network-my question is: 'Does anyone know any codes for my phone??'..like for tethering, unlocking themes-simple stuff, I know, but I've searched the web for a year with no luck!
