Question Make calls on Blackberry w/o voice plan?

Please Login to Remove!

is there anyway to use any type of voip on a blackberry? I am forced to use a corp blackberry on t-mobile for work....they won't allow email on my current blackberry with verizon...even if i had a blackberry on t-mobile they would still require me to carry 2 blackberries...one for voice and one for email since i don't want to activate voice on my corp BB because i can't port my number to the new one and i DO NOT want t-mobile as my voice carrier...crap reception where i live.

any ideas? I want to forward my current cell number to my corp bb so i only need to carry 1 bb around. i was hoping google voice would have an answer but it still uses the voice network to make calls.

thanks in advance!

Best thing to suggest is to get the voice activated on your blackberry, and sync it with your wifi router, I believe that tmobile in the US supports UMA which would use your wifi router as a replacement for the cell tower.

At the moment, there are no good VOIP clients for the BB.

Shouldn't there be a way to use Wi-Fi to make free calls?

Why would any carrier allow this? You need the voice plan to make even VOIP calls. They just won't debit your monthly minutes allowance for them.

If you have a Tmobile BB, you could use the UMA feature. But you would have to be within a wifi connection, so that might not be too practical. Dont know if you can just sign up for the uma (Tmobile@Home) plan only. Doesn't seem likely however.
