Question Direct connect info dissappering from contact info

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

Don't know if anyone else has seen this but, when someone in my contact list attempt's to direct connect to my phone. Their direct connect information will disappear from the "Direct Connect:" field in their contact list entry on my phone.

This behavior puzzled me for a while and I wasn't able to pinpoint at what point their direct connect number would disappear until today when I witnessed it happening. Today, I watched as a person on my contact list direct connected me a few times and each time their direct connect number would disappear from their contact list entry. Then I proceeded to re-type their direct connect number back into their contact entry. Which resulted in multiple "Direct Connect:" entries appearing under their contact information (see picture).

I am not familiar with Direct Connect, but if the problem does lie with the Address Book than a good step will be to purge the information from the Blackberry. In Desktop Manager you will want to back up any device information, then go into Backup and Restore>Advanced>highlight the address book data base on the right hand side>Clear. Then restore the device information back to the phone. Good luck!

Thanks MarcusT but, I have done that many times. I think the problem is with the BlackBerry OS or more specifically the address book application.

It doesn't appear (to me at least) that BlackBerry does a good job with Direct Connect. The software/firmware for it seems to be half baked on the 8350i.

Hmm...

Not great options but...

1.) Along with the Address Book, you can also try clearing out the Address Book Options, Phone Call Logs, Phone Hotlist, and Phone Options databases at the same time. Plus if there are any extra databases added for the Direct Connect interface you can clear those as well.

2.) Master Reset: Settings>Options>Security Options>General Settings>menu key>Wipe Handheld.

3.) Update the OS to the latest if available.

4.) Call Sprint and prey for a competent person.....hey, when all else fails, fresh tactics!
