It only changes colors when a call comes in. It does NOT change the color when the Pearl otherwise lights up.

Try choosing a different ringtone. Mine didn't do anything either with the original ringtone I'd picked, but once I set the ringtone to an MP3 file it lit up like a christmas tree.

AHA!!!
You're the best Kathryn, thanx for the help

Noticed, if you put the phone on "Loud" the pearl doesn't light when vibrating, but starts to light up when the phone rings...

Now I wonder why we can't set the pearl a different color for all the time...

If you want to increse the amt of time the phone rings call your provider, they can increase it upto 30 secs.

New Pearl owner. I got a black, girlfriend got a white one. Tmo.

FYI. She got the valentines day special case (with red felt), car charger, and chocolate gift card.... And the trackball turned pink after less than a weeks use due to the red/pink felt insert.

Just thought I would let you guys/gals know.

ah you can change the color of the trackball to a solid color... but this is pretty complicated from what i understand. You have to purchase new lights and take your pearl apart and remove the old white one and replace it with the color you choose. I also understand that you must be pretty talented with soldering(sp?) in order for it to work properly The site is lsdiodes dot com

The Pearl takes the 6030 bulbs

Ok, I just had to chime in on this! I'm a total newbie here, actually I signed up just so I could comment on this very subject!

Also to note that I am a self-proclaimed girly-geek, so I have the white pearl and whoever mentioned that the T-mo case with the pink felt in it is a genious!

I have that very same case so I sped up the process a little by wetting the felt and rolling the pearl on it for a while... voila! it's pink! I absolutely love it and have picture I can post but someone's going to have to tell me how!

My trackball turned pink too! Didn't realize it until after looking at this forum though! (Only had my Pearl for about two days before I got the case.)
