Hi all . i got a blackberry 8520 unlocked without any data plan. I can connect to internet using wifi but i wonder if i can ping any other blackberry user over wifi connection ? Or BlackBerry data plan is MUST in order to Ping another blackberry user ? I be happy if you guys explain how to ping over wifi .Thanks

You need a data plan to use BBM. Period.

Because bbm goes thru rim's servers. And if you don't pay for the blackberry plan, they don't want u using their servers.

So you mean my phone internet service provider pays to RIM when i subscribe to blackberry data plan ?
