Default Do I have to uninstall old Opsys

Please Login to Remove!

Win7/64--9000 on AT&T 4.0.0.0.247. I tried the official OS 5.0.0.822 upgrade and got the ringtone problem, so I downgraded to V4...247. Looks like the new V5 from Rodgers listed as a sticky is relatively stable and I'm thinking of upgrading.

Normally, first I'd uninstall my Opsys from the PC using CPanel and WIN's uninstall, but I noticed that the device software is NOT in the list, only DM 6.0.1. All the files are in \Common Files, but Blackberry Device Software is not listed in Programs and features. What to do? Download V5 and install over what's in Common Files, or simply hand delete the RIM folder there? Also what about the V4 device software registry entries left behind. Do I need to try to search them out and hand delete them as well, or doesn't the device OS software leave registry entries? As always, any help is appreciated.

I've never uninstalled the old device software from the computer when doing an upgrade; just install the new OS on the computer and then install on the BlackBerry.

DM will erase the old and install the new. Just make sure that you have a good back up and that the devices will remain powered for the install.
