I can't agree with that, I'm sure anyone that manages any server / service understands what happens when you have unplanned outages.

1 month of instability is anything but trivial; please don't trivialize something that just isn't that.

That said, hopefully we won't see problems like this again, but lets not pretend it is no big deal.

30 days of server issues can kill a company.... Lets hope the BBF and FAQ survive...

Sith_Apprentice,

I realize you've edited your post, which was largely a direct reply to mine, but I still feel I'm entitled to defend my position.

You say several consecutive weeks of downtime is trivial? Hardly the case as has been stated.
While this is a monetarily free forum, let's not forget that people's personal time has great value. We don't pay a fee to post here, but it certainly does cost something for all of us. I, and others, donate a great deal of our time for the sole purpose of helping others. We're not compensated in any way, nor do I think we should be. For me, my compensation comes in the form of knowledge I gain from other members. Quid pro quo. If the forum isn't available for me and others to utilize, then why should we bother contributing to it?

The owner of this forum owes the moderators, long-time members and new members alike a debt of gratitude, and instead has basically slapped them in face.
Asking Tom for assurance that this won't happen again is not an unreasonable request.

you are very much entitled to your opinion, I in now way wanted to imply anything differently. I edited my post because it was being misinterpreted largely because of the ambiguity in my words, and that is noones fault but my own. I agree with you communication would have been nice, but whats past is past. I enjoy posting in this forum more than any other, and I am usually on here, lurking or posting. My post count is not very high but i do spend a great deal of time on here. I was trying to point out that this is provided for us to use, pretty much as we see fit. I think we owe the Mods and Tom just as much as they owe us for posting, they donate time to post and to (for lack of a better term) moderate this. Please dont get me wrong, i greatly respect your views on this, and pretty much anything else ive seen you post and did not mean to start any sort of conflict. Most of the time i do not clearly speak what I am trying to convey.

oh hell, you know the two of you take more time to moderate than 1,000 of the others.

Throw in Lunkhead and EZ, and it's almost a fulltime job!

And we enjoy and thank you all for spending time here.

You obviously didn't see the 100% money back clause at the bottom of the site.
